OKKO’s visual function tests are designed around logMAR principles, and clinical validation studies demonstrate high repeatability when compared to the standard logMAR letter chart in clinic. OKKO’s technology is not a diagnostic replacement but acts as an early-warning and monitoring tool that complements OCT and in-office examinations.

Patients are encouraged to test several times per week. Higher frequency improves sensitivity to subtle changes and reduces noise in the data.

Significant deviations in acuity and/or distortion from baseline performance generate an alert, which are integrated into clinic workflows. Alerts are not diagnostic but support triage for urgent appointments.

OKKO is a Class I, 510(k)-exempt medical device in the U.S. It is FDA-registered and meets the requirements for safety and effectiveness. The service is positioned as a monitoring tool that complements, not replaces, in-office care.

Yes — OKKO supports billing under Remote Physiologic Monitoring (RPM) CPT codes 99453, 99454, 99457, and 99458. Additionally, Chronic Care Management (CCM) and Principal Care Management (PCM) codes may apply depending on patient eligibility.

OKKO complies with HIPAA (U.S.) and GDPR (EU/UK) standards. All data are encrypted in transit and at rest, and only authorized providers can access identifiable patient information. OKKO is independently audited and certified to global standard ISO 27001 to give our partners confidence that we have enterprise-level data security standards.
